Elissa Mackie, LPC
Elissa Mackie is compassionate and inquisitive while maintaining professional boundaries with patients, creating a safe therapy environment. Elissa is exceptionally well versed in many types of therapy, including IFS, EMDR, art therapy, Somatic work, trauma therapy, eating disorder specialization, DBT and more. I have known Elissa to successfully treat an extremely wide range of ages but has a particular penchant for young children. The work Elissa and I have done together for the last eight years has completely changed my life for the better. She has taught me “languages” that I can now discern myself and apply to my life situations and tribulations. I would recommend Elissa to anyone serious about changing their life or just curious about parts of themselves and wanting to explore. She can help get you there.
Hi, I am Elissa Mackie, LPC. Having worked as a therapist for over twenty years, I have had the opportunity to have worked in all levels of care including acute inpatient hospitalization, residential care, day treatment and outpatient care. I feel that each of these has offered me a deeper understanding of mental health and ways to help clients heal.
My career journey began with children using play therapy, art therapy and sand play therapy. As the age range of my clients expanded to adolescents and adults, I have found that clients of all ages can benefit from these approaches in their healing process
The next road of this journey branched off to working with clients with eating disorders and trauma in residential care. I found using Internal Family Systems and EMDR are great ways to help others work through their trauma, depression, anxiety, communication, and interpersonal issues.
I am someone who desires to spark change in people’s lives. I believe the journey is not so much about BECOMING anything- it is about unbecoming everything that you were not meant to be in the first place. I provide individualized support for each of my client's unique needs. I utilize EMDR, Internal Family Systems, mindfulness, and somatic and expressive art therapy.
